The Bold Gemstone Necklace

This piece is inspired by my daughter’s natural boldness in her design and style choices. I had previously almost unknowingly restricted myself to smaller sized beads when creating my pieces. It felt safe and right, and it was also the style I liked to wear myself I suppose - not that I had trialled anything more bold! 
I had purchased beautiful bold gemstone beads to use as focal elements in my designs, just a single large bead in the centre. 
During a beading session with my larger than life 6 year old, she made herself a necklace using only the large sized beads, not just one as a focal point. I immediately thought “wow she is brave with her designs, I would have never thought to use those beads like that!” Followed immediately by, “she doesn’t know how brave this feels to me, to her she’s not trying to be brave. She’s not scared to do it but doing it anyway, she is just letting her creativity flow, truly and authentically without overthinking a single thing. And that authenticity was felt in her final piece”.

Her necklace felt so stunning, I wanted it for myself! It was a beautiful lesson to me, and a perfect example of what I know to be true - when you create from your heart, it is felt in the art, by anyone who resonates with your authenticity.

And it also made me realise how incredible bold beads can look and feel in a piece of jewellery. So I gave it a go myself. Measures approx. 42cm.  

Please note: Some spacing between the beads is intentional, especially when your bracelet isn’t fastened. This allows the beads to sit comfortably without rubbing against one another, which helps prevent damage and ensures your jewellery drapes beautifully when worn.

Caring for your jewels

33 + SUNNY jewellery is not high maintenance but a little bit of care goes a long way to ensure your pieces look their best for years to come. Removing your jewels before they’re exposed to water, chemicals, fragrance + lotions will help to keep your jewels looking their best.

Whilst exposure to a little bit of water is not going to make your jewellery fall apart, over time it will cause your jewellery to look a little more weathered. Not broken, just beat!
